Department: Science
Division: Middle School
Course Description: An inquiry-based course, which introduces students to life science and experimental designs. Students learn about the similarities and differences of organisms, how organisms interact with their surroundings and how humans impact these relationships. Students design and execute experiments using organisms as test subjects, while investigating the concepts taught in class. After learning how to design controlled experiments, students engage in a year-long science fair project, testing the factors that influence plant growth. In addition to writing lab reports, they post and discuss their experimental findings on the course wiki.
